Combine operating in a wheat field with grain logistics nearby
Field application brief

Combine harvester harvesting wheat: define the operation

Crop conditions and field logistics give machine specifications their meaning. Use your application to decide what a factory needs to quote and what an acceptance check must establish.

Translate field work into purchasing questions

Broadacre wheat

Cut, separate and handle straw

Record acreage, crop height, lodging conditions and the required straw result. Ask for the cereal header width, combine threshing cylinder or rotor specification, cleaning settings and unloading arrangement. Grain moisture content must accompany any throughput comparison.

Mixed corn and wheat

Quote crop changes explicitly

Describe both crops and identify separate header and adjustment needs. Ask the factory to list conversion parts, changeover steps and any operating limitations. A multi-crop description does not prove that all attachments are included in the offer.

Contract harvesting

Bring access and servicing into scope

Provide field entry widths, travel between sites, receiving-vehicle dimensions and available maintenance support. Ask for machine mass, transport envelope, loading instructions and wear-part references. Confirm road and destination requirements with the responsible local parties.

Field trade-offs that affect an offer

Wide header or easier movement between fields?

A wider working width may reduce passes in an open field, while a narrower configuration may simplify gateways and transport. Compare the header, machine power, terrain and receiving logistics together. Quote detached-header transport equipment separately when needed.

Rated throughput or useful harvest capacity?

Request t/h on a defined crop and grain moisture content basis, with travel speed and loss or damage criteria recorded. For verification, ask the supplier to propose a demonstration using weighed grain over a measured interval, a stated moisture method and agreed grain-loss sampling. Results from different conditions cannot be treated as equivalent.

Preserved straw or chopped residue?

State whether straw will be baled, spread or incorporated. Preserving straw and chopping it serve different downstream tasks; ask what equipment and adjustment changes each requires. Compare those options without assuming that a particular threshing arrangement will meet your straw requirement.

Which documents should accompany a US delivery request?

Ask for machine and engine identification, operating and service manuals, packing and loading details and the supplier's proposed destination documents. Confirm current import, emissions and transport applicability with your broker or relevant authority for the exact machine. A general certificate label is insufficient.

Send the field conditions with the machine request

Include your crop, acreage, capacity basis, working width, quantity, receiving location and harvest date. Mark budget and supplier preferences as optional so mandatory field requirements remain visible.
